Tabletop Twitter

During this media cycle, students are celebrating Black History Month first by watching a short Walter Dean Myers clip where he discusses his life, then participating in Tabletop Twitter.  Following the completing of the video, students move around between four tables.  Each table contains a quote from an African American author who is found in the library.  Without talking students move from each of the four tables commenting on the quotes and commenting on other students' "posts."  As I did not provide the title students could also guess the title of the book.   Stay tuned for pictures of the collages that will be created from students posts on the quotes.

Quotes used were:

Victoria Bond:  I thought about the difference between a mama's girl and a daddy's girl.  I decided that a daughter who belongs to her daddy expects gifts, while a daughter who belongs to her mama expects a lot more.

Angela Johnson:  If the world were really right, humans would live life backward and do the first part last.  They'd be all knowing in the beginning and innocent in the end...

Walter Dean Myers:  I just wanted to be a human being.  I just wanted to be whoever I saw in the mirror, without race or a place in life.  What is so wrong with that?

Sharon Flake:  To look in the mirror and like what you see, even when it doesn't look like your idea of beauty.
