Reading Ebooks
The ALMS Destiny catalog Home screen has been updated with directions on how to access our ebook collection using the most popular devices. We will be reviewing this during each class's regularly scheduled circulation visit over the next two weeks.
If your device is not listed and you are unable to access ebooks on your personal computer, please email me at: angelacausby@johnston.k12.nc.us and I will be happy to look into the problem.

Book Fair
ALMS just completed its Fall Book Fair. Total sales were over $7500! Thank you to all the volunteers who lent a hand and all the students and their families who helped to make it a success. Students were also a able to continue circulation despite the book fair being in progress. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!
The Spring Book Fair will take place in March with family night corresponding with Open House on March 18. Mark your calendars!

The fantastic flying books of Mr. Morris Lessmore
Earlier, this month the creative writing class is visited the library and for a lesson involving The fantastic flying books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. Students first viewed the Academy Award winning short film then completed exercises before finishing up with a reading of the book. Although the picture book is intended for younger audiences the content can be enjoyed by readers of all levels.
Media Assistants Favorite Book Display
The image is a little blurry, but earlier this week each media assistant was able to select some of their favorite books and create a shelf display. These books have been very popular with their fellow students.

Happenings in the Media Center
This week starts a new quarter for our students at Archer Lodge Middle School. Students are changing up their enhancements, which means new media assistants. Special thanks to all the previous quarter's media assistants and all of their help and hard work!
The media center has been bustling with students performing research on projects for select science and social studies classes. Sixth grade science projects currently are on display.
During circulation time this rotation, sixth graders are performing scavenger hunts looking for books in the bookshelves. This is helping students learn where and how to find books by certain authors, call numbers, and subjects.
Our book fair is right around the corner. Starting November 14 and ending November 21 at noon, we will be open for business. Looking forward to seeing you there.
